Toby is an interesting character, hardly ever seen outside his shop. He manages the Rock-Porium, a small record store in downtown Briarwood. The store is small enough that he'll often be seen running the cash register in addition to acting as general manager, despite having five employees who could easily run the register without him.
Toby is a very laid back man, constantly dressing and acting in a manner that seems like a throwback to the post-hippie movement. He wants his store to not turn into a grinding machine, in fear that it may become another soulless megastore. His store is as laid back as he is; he can often be seen sitting in his office doing things such as solving cryptomagnetic puzzles when he should be working. As long his employees aren't forsaking their jobs entirely, he allows them to have a fun time while there as well. This casual atmosphere seems to work extremely well with keeping customers coming back to the store.
Toby continues to get involved with the Rangers, although he has no idea why. The Solar Train stopped outside his store, scaring him immensely, though he never caught a glimpse of it. In addition, thanks to Leelee's premature assumption, Toby was kidnapped by Necrolai during the search for the Gatekeeper. Toby even played a hand in unlocking the secret of the Fire Heart, putting his puzzle-solving skills to use in unlocking the timed treasure chest it was stored in. Not many store owners can say they've had a hand in keeping the world safe like Toby has, although he'll never know he did so.
Toby had the oppurtunity to meet Phineas at one point, believing the troblin was a long lost uncle of Xander's from a small mountain village in Europe who had been in a skiing accident and also had a skin condition. For being from such totally different “worlds”, the two clicked into a pretty odd friendship fairly fast during their adventure to get rid of Phineas's toothache.
Unfortunately, as of recently, Toby has lost trust in the Rangers' ability to stay at the job when he needs them, with them constantly running out to save the world. As a result, he's hired Leelee, naturally having no idea of the tension he's created by forcing the Rangers to work with one of their enemies.
While Toby's private life hasn't been explored, it's clear that his love of rock music extends to every aspect of his life. Particular favorites of his are Jimi Hendrix and Hairy Hatchet.
Toby also clearly enjoys puzzles; an entire episode centered around his love affair and skill with them.
One can assume that Toby enjoys snorkling, as he is first introduced to the audience fresh from his vacation. So fresh, infact, that he was wearing a wetsuit and still had on the flippers.
He also seems to enjoy dancing to an extent, although whether or not what he does can actually be called “dancing” is highly questionable.
Toby's last name is given on the official UK website as Slambrook. This wiki assumes last names given via promotional material or official websites to be legit.
Pre-season bios give Toby's age as 26 and claim he lives in an apartment above the Rockporium. While both are entirely feasible, neither was mentioned in detail in the show.
